Lucas Ptacek
Head Sophomore Coach

Coach Lucas Ptacek currently teaches Sixth Grade Social Studies at Roosevelt Middle School. He is in his fourth year of teaching after graduating from Coe College in May 2005 and recently received his Masters in K-12 Administration from the University of Northern Iowa. He was a four-year member of the Kohawk football team and choir.

Lucas played football, basketball, and ran track at Jefferson. He was football captain and all-conference selection as well as 2nd team All-State. He was voted class president each of his four years! While at Jefferson, Lucas was a member of Westside Delegation, Concert Choir, and Meistersingers. He was a Special Olympics volunteer and a Read-Along Mentor. This is Lucas’ eighth year in the J-Hawk basketball program and third as the sophomore head coach. He has been assistant coach on the varsity football staff for one year, and the freshman staff for two years.

Brandon Horman
Assistant Sophomore Coach

Coach Brandon Horman currently teaches 4th Grade at Wilson School. Brandon also coaches 8th grade football at Wilson. He is in his second year of teaching after graduating from Mt. Mercy College in 2007. He was a member of the Mount Mercy Men’s Basketball Team.

Brandon was a 3-year varsity letter-winner in basketball and a 4-year varsity-letter winner in golf at Calamus-Wheatland High School. Brandon is a member of the schools 1,000 point club, and is the schools all-time leading re-bounder. In March of 2009 Brandon will be getting married to his fiancé Jess. Jess is a Cardiovascular Sonographer at St. Lukes Hospital. Brandon enjoys spending time with Jess and his family. He also enjoys supporting the Iowa Hawkeye’s.
