Early Success Catches Area and State's Attention
Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 12:56PM The Jefferson Boys' Basketball team four early victories have caught the attention of local basketball fans. With their 4-0 record, the J-Hawks narrowly missed entering the AP Boys Basketball Prep Poll. The J-Hawks received 18 points, which landed them just short of hte #10 spot in the state of Iowa.

Win 59-36 @ Davenport North
Win 59-55 @ Iowa City City High
Win 63-26 v. Marion
Jefferson has been outscoring their opponents by an average of 26.25 points per game, which puts them at third in Class 4A in point differential per game behind Ankeny and Sioux City East. The J-Hawks are the top-ranked team in the MVC in scoring with 63.3 points per game. Senior point guard, Taylor Olson, ranks fourth in Class 4A and third inthe MVC with a game average of 22 points. Olson is also the top assist (22) and steals (15) man in the conference. Ky Kramer and Tyler Hemphill are also in the Top 7 in the conference in steals with 13 and 9 respectively.
The J-Hawks play three more games before the Holiday break. They will square off against Dubuque Hempstead on Tuesday, visit cross-town rival Washington Warriors on Friday, before ending the 2011 calendar year traveling to North Cedar on Tuesday, December 20.
