It took a little while to get going, but Jefferson was able to find their range from inside and out. With Taylor Olson out sick, Tyler Meiborg and Alec Saunders stepped in. Prairie came out and matched shots with the J-Hawks early. Jarrod Uthoff found his stroke from the outside connecting on his first three three-point shots. Tyler Meiborg added two three’s of his own in the first half and the J-Hawks went into the half with a 30-22 lead.
Prairie continued to hang around in the third as Alec Saunders battled on the boards. Alec compiled 7 rebounds, 6 of them on the offensive end. Along with his strong rebounding, Alec contributed a season-high 17 points. At the end of the third quarter the J-Hawks built their lead to 42-30. Handling the point Teyshawn Campbell was able to dish out a game-high 7 assists. Jarrod Uthoff was unstoppable from inside and out, finishing with 32 points and 8 rebounds. This is Uthoff’s second time scoring over 30 points this year shooting 12-16 from the field. Uthoff along with the other J-Hawks scored 27 points in the fourth to pull away from Prairie. Tonight’s final score was 69-50.
The victory improves the J-Hawks record to 15-3 on the season and 11-3 in the MVC. They will conclude the year with a home contest against Wahlert on Tuesday and then wrap up the regular season with a trip to Iowa City West to take on the Trojans.
